Google released an update to its algorithm recently. They called it Bert (as in the lovable Muppet that lives with Ernie).
The trick with Bert, is that you can’t really optimize for it. What you can do is write better content and focus on writing for the searchers not the search engine.
Google’s Danny Sullivan put it best on Twitter:
There’s nothing to optimize for with BERT, nor anything for anyone to be rethinking. The fundamentals of us seeking to reward great content remain unchanged. – Danny Sullivan of Google
What does that mean? Simple. Focus on writing well written and informative articles that people will want to read and search for.
What you don’t want to do is keyword stuff, or gear the article or page content for the Google spider.
Ultimately, the best content wins the query, ranking, and hopefully the visitor.
What have you heard about Bert? Do you think Ernie is jealous of all the attention Bert is getting? (LOL)
