My Take

Taking a break is important. A friend and colleague of mine in the EU seems to have holidays all the time in the summer. Many of them are civic, but regardless she takes them and recharges, as much as she can with a little one in the house.

Here in the US, we have a Work/Life balance issue. Many of us don’t know when to take a “holiday” and unwind. This Labor Day, I took the weekend mostly off. It wasn’t relaxing one bit, but it was a break from work. Why it wasn’t relaxing is a story for another time.

As with business in general, we marketers need to stop glorifying the hustle culture and embrace and praise the taking-a-break-and-unwinding-culture.
